What is Treatment Foster Care
back-to-top
Treatment foster care is a more complex level of foster care that provides homes for foster children with specialized needs. The child’s needs usually require more intensive involvement with foster care staff. The foster parent is a part of the child’s treatment team, and will work closely with agency staff in achieving goals. Before a child is placed in a treatment foster home, the foster parent(s) go through a thorough screening process and receive pre-service training.

If you’re just learning about us, and are unsure about becoming a Treatment Foster Parent, you may be interested in becoming a Respite Provider. Respite is a break given to treatment foster families. Respite providers are licensed, and they care for treatment foster children in their homes over brief periods of time (usually a weekend or two a month). Respite providers have to be at least 18 years of age, and previous parenting experience is not required.
